Following Muse's performance at the Glastonbury festival, they were presented with a gold disc for UK sales of over 100,000 of the album, Showbiz. There should be a photo in next week's Music Week industry magazine. Worldwide sales are about 300,000.
The 15 minute programme about Muse, due to be shown on Channel 4 at the beginning of June, was not shown because it doesn't exist. So don't hold your breath for a re-scheduling!
A producer for the next Muse album has yet to be officially chosen. It is rumoured that John Leckie will again take up production responsibility, but there are no hints about a definite decision as yet. No studio time has been booked for recording the album, but as soon as I know anything, I'll post the info. here.
Finally, Muscle Museum is due to be released in the UK as the 6th (yes, SIXTH) single from Showbiz. As far as I can ascertain, this is Mushroom's decision, and has yet to be officially confirmed. According to Matt Bellamy, we can expect some new b-sides and a new video, featuring live performances by the band. We'll have to wait and see whether this third release of Muscle Museum will have a negative effect on the band's profile.
Unintended entered the 10th rank in the uk charts (indie singles on June the 18th) / Showbiz is 12th.
Today's Melody Maker lists Matt as the 8th "coolest" person in music.
